The Easter season is among us and two things my family puts an emphasis on is Being blessed to be a Blessing and Saving Money. With couponing, you have an opportunity to do both. I try to make sure that I use all of my coupons before they expire but sometimes it does happen, and if you are like me, you do not want to throw them away. Did you know that the military bases in the United States as well as overseas accept expired coupons? They actually do! These families can use expired manufacturer coupons up to six months past their expiration date.

If you live close to a military base, the base typically has a PEXtra. Sometimes these locations will have a drop box for expired coupons that they are then distributed to the military families.

Troopons is an organization based out of Florida that routes the expired coupons to military bases worldwide. This helps you as the giver because you do not have to pay crazy postage prices.

The address for Troopons is:
Support Our Troops
P.O.Box 70
Daytona Beach, Florida 32115

Also when sending these expired coupons please keep in mind the following.

1. Manufacturer’s coupon only. Do not use store specific coupons. If you are unsure if you have the right coupon or not, look at the wording near the expiration date. The coupon will state if it is a manufacturer’s coupon or not.
2. Please make sure the expiration date is not cut off during the clipping process. If the date is missing, the coupon is no longer valid.
3. Remember, these coupons take time to travel when they are going overseas. A good rule to use is if it is over three months old, take them to your local military base.
4. Try to sort the coupons in groups. For example, food, cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc.

Digital Coupon Saving Apps and Tips

-Ibotta and Checkout 51 are considered the new era of mobile coupons.
- Download both apps and sign up for an account.
        - These apps are free and can be downloaded from The App Store or Google Play
- Browse the coupon selection and select the items you plan to purchase.
        - Select items from both apps
        - This must be done prior to check out.
- Purchase the items that you selected from both apps
- Once your transaction is finished upload your receipt to both apps
- When using these apps you have the opportunity to make money from your purchases without clipping coupons. These two apps are paying you to shop. Once you have reached $20. The app will ask you, if you would like your money mailed to you or deposited to your account or you can let the money stay there until you are ready to take it out. These apps are amazing and are very user friendly. If you have paper or digital coupons that you want to use, you can use them in conjunction to these two apps as well.
