Family Promise of Augusta, previously named Interfaith Hospitality, is a non-profit organization helping homeless families in the CSRA. Many families face financial and circumstantial burdens that lead them to become homeless, we take those burdens to restore their hope and dignity. Through our 90-day program, our goal is for families to regain permanent independence.
While in the program, families must search for 7 jobs each day until they find full-time work. Once they get a job, we teach budgeting, saving, and accountability. Our program has an 80% success rate, which means when families graduate our program, they have a full-time job and stable housing. They can then apply for our rent-free housing for one year, during this time they must save 30% of their income and pay all utilities in their own name.
The ripple effects of homelessness are huge. By focusing on walking alongside families in our area, Family Promise of Augusta is able to keep families together and help them have a brighter future. Children are able to watch their parents work hard to get through difficulties and overcome them. This allows children gain life coping skills for their own future. Children are also able to remain in school and receive an education. Our program enables families to break the cycle of homelessness and give the next generation hope and stability.
One local business has taken a special interest in supporting Family Promise of Augusta. David Greene & Associates is donating $100 from every closing this year to Family Promise of Augusta. As families in the area are buying and selling their homes, they can help families who are currently homeless by simply buying or selling through David Greene & Associates. It is always encouraging to have local small businesses supporting the less fortunate in our community.
