Considering that my husband would be a knight or wizard, if possible, we just had to visit The Georgia Renaissance Festival!  This festival is absolutely my husband's "cup of tea", and was an experience I know he couldn't wait to share with our little one.  From the time you walk in the gates, you are completely transported to the life and sounds of Newcastle in 16th century England.  There is music playing, people dancing, and the village hustle of people coming to and fro.  I must say the sights and sounds immediately get you excited to see what's next.  Luckily, you're given a detailed map on how to travel through Newcastle to see the sights!  There honestly is no shortness on fun things to do, see, and eat during your visit.  Quite a few stages are set up for shows covering magic, comedy, and music!  With the schedule of events, you won't have to worry about missing any shows. I must say it was nice not having to rush through worrying we would miss something.  One of our favorites was viewing the noblemen battle it out through competition and jousting to see who would take over the throne!

If you plan on having some 16th century fun with kids, they will love all the fun games and rides geared toward them.  You can throw spears, practice your bow skills, and try your hand at sinking sirens.  Some games are more suitable for older kids, but don't worry, you won't hear the dreaded "I'm bored" in Newcastle!  There are also quite a few shows and activities specifically for the little ones!  Our son absolutely loved the "flying chairs" and Giving Tree Drum Circle.  In case the kids are needing something a little more familiar, they can run free at the playground and petting zoo!

All the fantastic garb and embellishments of The Georgia Renaissance Festival may inspire you to create a look all your own!  If that's the case, there are several shops along the paths to visit in order to completely submerge yourself!  From hair braiding, swords and shields, and elf ears, to the most elaborate clothing, Newcastle has a little something for everyone to join in on the Renaissance fun!  With all the energy you'll be burning on your adventures, you'll need to refuel!  Food, drinks, and yummy treats can be found all around.  Stop by any of the taverns, pubs, and food carts for some amazing jerky, ice cold smoothies, apple dumpling sundaes, or frozen lemonade.  Oh, and you can't forget those humongous turkey legs!

With 32 acres to explore and entertainment galore, you can feast and have fun like royalty at The Georgia Renaissance Festival!
